Craft Vinyl Basics
There are two different types of craft vinyl:
- Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV)
- Adhesive vinyl
Adhesive vinyl is for making decals to apply to vehicles, glass, mugs, cups and a ton of other items. It comes in a variety of colors and styles.
Heat transfer vinyl or HTV is heat applied vinyl used for making graphics for t-shirts, hoodies and other garments.
Ante Up Graphic Supply carries Oracal and FDC brand adhesive vinyl and Siser brand heat transfer vinyl.
Below we break down the different types of adhesive vinyl and Heat transfer vinyl - and which type of craft vinyl is right for your project.
Adhesive Vinyl
Oracal 651: Oracal 651 is GLOSSY permanent outdoor adhesive vinyl and by far our most popular vinyl we sell. It is a solvent based adhesive which makes the 651 series perfect for vehicle graphics, outdoor signs, and also cups, mugs, tumblers and anything else you would want a permanent bond.
We carry 61 glossy colors of oracal 651 in a variety of sheets and rolls - also available in matte black, matte white and transparent.
Oracal 631: Oracal 631 is a MATTE removable indoor vinyl and perfect for wall graphics as the adhesive is designed to not damage painted drywall. It can be used on walls and other indoor items such as ornaments, shadow boxes, holiday window displays that you wish to remove.
We carry 70 colors of oracal 631 in a variety of sizes (sheets and rolls) including transparent vinyl.
Oracal 6510: Oracal 6510 is the fluorescent version of the 651 series vinyl. It comes in 6 colors and works exactly like Oracal 651. This vinyl does have a white adhesive side so it should not be placed on the inside of glass.
Oracal 8510: Oracal 8510 silver and gold vinyl is designed to make glass look like it has been etched and is available in fine and coarse textures. Permanent solvent based adhesive makes Oracal 8510 vinyl perfect for indoor or outdoor applications.
FDC 3700: FDC ultra metallic permanent glitter vinyl is the most underrated vinyl we sell. It works exactly like Oracal 651 only its GLITTER!
We carry 21 different colors of permanent glitter vinyl.
Heat Transfer Vinyl
Siser EasyWeed: Siser EasyWeed is the most popular heat transfer vinyl on the market. It comes with a carrier sheet. Siser EasyWeed HTV can be applied with an iron or a heat press.
We carry 40 solid colors of Siser EasyWeed in a variety of sized sheets and rolls. We also keep in stock 7 fluorescent colors, and glow in the dark HTV.
Easyweed Stretch: Siser EasyWeed Stretch comes in 12 solid colors and is thinner and more flexible. What makes it different is that it stretches with the garment it is pressed on.
Glitter: Siser glitter comes in 39 colors. It is a little thicker than Siser EasyWeed but it is a great way to make your apparel stand out.
